beginning point. For a nominal fee we can come on site and perform an inspection, taking into consideration
the history of the property, current dampness, the moisture source, affected materials, and suspected
affected areas. We have a variety of moisture detection meters and devices, and are experienced in
construction deficiency identification and rectification of mould causing issues. Call us for a
mold inspection if you have concerns about your property. To contact a technician regarding mould [mold] assessment and/or

Mould Testing
Mould exposure is typically from spores that get airborne and we
breath them in. Mould spores are so small they are not visible in the air. Mould testing can measure and
document the quantity and varieties of mould in the air. This type of information can be helpful in
determining the scope of work necessary; documenting the results of the mould removal and may also provide
clerical documentation confirming the successfulness of remediation. Mould testing should only be
conducted or coordinated by experienced firms. Mould testing is not a requirement on every project and
should be utilized only when results are anticipated to assist the client. To contact a technician regarding mould [mold] assessment and/or

Mould and Mildew
Mould is most prolific between 75°F/24°C and 85°F/29°C. Building
interiors can provide a "prime" environment for growth and reproduction of mold, mildew and bacteria. All are
parasitic and rely on organic matter for food. Mould breaks down organic matter and its food sources such as
wood, paper, drywall, paneling, and ceiling tiles. Decaying organic jute backing on carpets coupled with warm
humid air, creates an ideal environment for reproduction.
Bacteria
Bacteria differs in it's climatic preferences. Some are able to
survive below freezing while others are active to temperatures above 150°F/66°C. It is similar to mildew in
that its preferred temperature for growth is 75°F/24°C.
Mould Remediation
Once the source of the mould is resolved the clean-up begins.
Clean-up measures include:
CONTAINMENT: Isolating the
area to prevent the mold from spreading beyond it's existing area. Negative air pressure machines are
generally used in conjunction with temporary containment systems.
NEUTRALIZE: Anti-microbial
solutions may be applied to contaminated areas in order to neutralize and/or encapsulate mould
prior to removal.
IMPORTANT FACT: Chlorine
Bleach does not effectively kill mould on porous surfaces (wood, drywall, etc). It is not an approved mehtod
for mould remediation.
REMOVAL: Removal of
contaminated materials using various methods and proper disposal.
COATINGS: Depending on the
situation, we may recommend the application of Anti-Microbial coating to prevent the recolinization of Mould
on the remediated area.
DURING THE REMEDIATION PROCESS, THE USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE
GEAR IS MANDATORY IN THE CONTAINMENT AREA. YOU SHOULD NEVER ENTER THE CONTAINMENT AREA WITHOUT CONSULTING
WITH THE CERTIFIED REMEDIATOR FIRST.
GeoFocus Mould
Solutions main priority when interacting with a new client is to educate the potential client so they have the
ability to make a qualified decision when retaining a contractor. Whether the presence of mould may
affect a person’s health depends on the susceptibility of an individual, the dose of mould exposed to, the route
of entry, and the environmental variables particular to a case. Responding to mould problems requires a series of actions. The order in which actions take
place is sometimes important. Typically, the following actions are implemented to some extent regardless of
whether a problem is small and simple or large and complex: To learn more about mould [mold] assessment, click
